Ms. Joselyn K. Wilson

August 8, 1949 - May 24, 2010

Ms. Wilson established Oceanside Dance Academy September 1989, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance from the University of California, Irvine, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in English Literature from Maryknoll College.

Ms. Wilson studied under some of the finest teachers in the dance world, notably: Anthony Tudor, New York City Ballet's Jilliana, New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theatre ballerina Violette Verdy, Alexander Gudonov, Lawrence Rosenberg, Victor Moreno, Jean Isaacs, El Gabriel, Gus Giordano, Matt Mattox, Luigi, Frank Hatchett, and Joe Tremaine.

Ms. Wilson's Musical Theater choreography credits include "Fiddler on the Roof", "Annie", "My Fair Lady", "Bye Bye Birdie", "Guys and Dolls", "Thoroughly Modern Millie". Her dance experience spanned three continents: Asia, the United States, and Europe.

The philosophy of Ms. Wilson's dance training lives on in her many students. O.D.A. trained dancers are easily recognized by their high quality dance technique, the basics still taught at the studio under the direction of her daughters, Ms. Jewels and Ms. Jeli. The essence of Ms. Wilson can easily be summoned up by the following statement:

To know her...was to love her."
