  1. What classes do you offer?
    We proudly offer classes in Ballet, Pointe, Pre-Dance (Ballet & Tap), Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Hip Hop, Gymnastics for dance, Mommy and Me classes starting 2 – 3 years old, and Private Lessons.

  2. What is the age range and experience necessary to participate in your program?
    We offer classes for students ranging from age 2 years – adult and offer classes in all different levels, from beginner to advanced. It is our goal to provide you and/or your child with a class in which they feel comfortable while being challenged.

  3. Does my child need to audition to get into the program?
    There is no audition process. Class placement is done at the discretion of the program directors and/or teachers.  Placement is based upon age, ability, and experience.
    *All children are accepted.

  4. Can my child take classes whenever he/she wants and what type of commitment is expected?
    The Oceanside Dance Academy Program is a year commitment and we have ongoing enrollment. Classes run from September through the middle of July on Saturdays and weekdays. A commitment to class attendance is extremely important for a young dancer’s progress.

  5. How will I be kept informed of holidays, upcoming events, and other information regarding the ODA?
    Parents will receive e-mails with important information. Please be sure to update the front office with updated contact information.

  6. Is there a dress code?
    Yes, we do have a mandatory dress code. This dress code is available at the front desk and on-line.

  7. Do you have a recital?
    Yes, Oceanside Dance Academy has two recitals each year. We have a fun, high-energy recital at the end of our program in July. The recital allows students the chance to display what they have learned throughout the year. We also have a holiday recital in December. All students’ participation in the recital is optional. O.D.A.’s recital is well known for the excellent entertainment and is highly regarded in the community.

  8. Am I allowed to watch my child in class?
    We offer an app to all enrolled students that allow you to watch the classes directly on your phone. You can also share this with family and friends at your discretion. Access is included in your enrollment fees.

  9. Is registration required in order to take classes?
    Yes, please call our office at 760-940-6161 to sign up for classes. When you arrive for classes, please fill out our liability form and pay our registration fee. Our office staff will explain our programs & tuition.

  10. How do I know which level of class to take?
    We recommend taking a level that is lower for the following reasons:  you may be unfamiliar with a teacher’s style, classes may be harder than what you are accustomed to, and you might want to acclimate yourself to new surroundings. If you haven’t danced in many years, you’ll want to reintroduce your body and muscles slowly. Remember, if you’ve chosen a class that is not best for you, we will happily switch you to another class.

  11. What if I am late for class?
    Generally, students will not be admitted into class 15 minutes after the class start time. This is to ensure proper warm-up, reduce injuries, and ensure class etiquette. Management also reserves the right to refuse any individual entry onto the premises or class at any time, per their discretion.
