2008-2009 Season of Dance

It is our goal to find the perfect class that fits your child’s needs and to nurture their growth throughout their time with us. Our strength lies in knowing how to bring out the very best in your child.

Our 44-week program offers classes in Pre-Ballet Tap A (2 1/2 - 4 years) and B (4-5 1/2 years), Tumbling Princess(5-7 1/2years), Star Combo (5- 7 1/2 years), Tap, Hip Hop Tumble (5-7 1/2 years), Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Hip Hop, , Gymnastics for Dance, Hula & Tahitian, Father/Child and Mother/Child Dance, Separate Adult Classes, and Private Lessons.

We understand and take into consideration the busy schedule of children these days, so our one-day-a-week program is thoughtfully and specifically designed to cater to the hectic schedules of the modern family. For our beginner students, we have weekday and Saturday classes geared towards children and teens with less dance experience. Whether your child is looking to have a career in the dance or entertainment fields or taking classes just for fun, ODA is the place for you!

Our caring faculty are highly trained and qualified dance professionals. Their dedication to dance instruction is shaping the future of the dance world. It is our focus to instruct your children with the highest quality training, enhancing technique, style, and performance. It is our goal to give each student the best dance education possible and to provide high quality and an abundance of opportunities.

DRESS CODE

The ODA adheres to a dress code for uniformity, as well as parent's and student's convenience, practicality, discipline, and the pride of our dance school. Until class level is definitely determined, parents may prefer to wait until after the first lesson to purchase the appropriate dance attire. All students in class must wear their hair up and off of their neck. (HAIR MUST BE WORN IN A BUN FOR ALL BALLET CLASSES.)

Ballet shoes must have elastic sewn on. Tights may not be worn in place of shoes. In order to preserve our dance floors, dance shoes, especially tap shoes, should not be worn in the parking lot. No jewelry, oversized tee-shirts, boxer shorts, jeans or street shoes worn in class. Tights, shoes, dancewear required for the recital, holiday performance, mall performance, San Diego County Fair, or other public performances. Official ODA dancewear with logo is available for purchase.

  2. What is the age range and experience necessary to participate in your program?
We offer classes for students ranging from age 2 ½ - adult, and offer classes in all different levels, from beginner to advanced. It is our goal to provide your child with a class in which they feel comfortable while being challenged.
  3. Does my child need to audition to get into the program?
There is no audition process. Class placement is done at the discretion of the program directors and/or teachers. Placement is based upon age, ability, and experience.
    *All children are accepted.
  4. Can my child take classes whenever he/she wants and what type of commitment is expected?
The Oceanside Dance Academy Program is a 44-week commitment. Classes run from August through the middle of July on Saturdays and weekdays. A commitment to class attendance is extremely important for a young dancer's progress.
  5. How will I be kept informed of holidays, upcoming events, and other information regarding the ODA?
Parents will receive a newsletter bi-annually with important information.
  6. Is there a dress code?
Yes, we do have a mandatory dress code. This dress code is available at the front desk and on-line.
  7. Do you have a recital?
Yes, Oceanside Dance Academy ends their 44-week program with a fun, high-energy recital. The recital allows students the chance to display what they have learned throughout the year. All students’ participation in the recital is optional. O.D.A.’s recital is well known for the excellent entertainment and is highly regarded in the community
  8. Am I allowed to watch my child in class?
Yes; all classes have a viewing window for parents to watch through. Parents of pre-school children are especially encouraged to stay during their children’s class to watch.
  9. Is registration required in order to take classes?
Our classes are open and you may sign into any class you wish on the day of the class according to your level of experience. To take a class, come to the studio sign-in desk at least 10 minutes prior to the start of a class and tell us what class you'd like to take. Fill out the liability form, pay the registration fee, and tuition is pro-rated.
  10. How do I know which level of class to take?
We recommend taking a level that is lower for the following reasons; you may be unfamiliar with a teacher's style, classes may be harder than what you are accustomed to, and you might want to acclimate yourself to new surroundings. If you haven't danced in many years, you'll want to reintroduce your body and muscles slowly. Remember, if you've chosen a class that is not best for you, we will happily switch you to another class.
  11. What if I am late for class?
Generally students will not be admitted into class 15 minutes after the class start time. This is to ensure proper warm-up, reduce injuries, and ensure class etiquette. Management also reserves the right to refuse any individual entry onto the premises or class at any time, per their discretion.
